Don't be too timid and squeamish about your actions. All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better. |
I am an alumnus of Columbia College Chicago, from the Cinema Arts and Sciences (CA+S) program with a BA in Production Design focused in fabrication.
Much of my background has been in Theatre and Fine Art. While I have been doing theatre since the age of four, it wasn't until high school that I began to work behind the scenes in set design and construction. Since the sixth grade, my other studies focused in 3D fine art, and through that I developed a very broad knowledge of media and technique. My collegiate career focused on expanding and refining that knowledge. I have always had an interdisciplinary approach to learning, beginning with the melding of theatre and fine art. In college, this meant looking to departments beyond CA+S for course work. This includes the Art and Art History, Design, and Interactive Arts and Media (IAM) departments. My Art and Design coursework focused on refining my physical fabrication skills and fine woodworking techniques, while my IAM coursework pursued digital fabrication and 3D sculpture. While my degree is in Cinema Production Design, my career goals do not necessarily lie within the film industry. As a Fabrication Specialist, I am excited for prospects along many career paths on many horizons. I have accepted a position with Disney for the summer to winter season and hope to continue my professional development there. |
